LIMA India, the global trade association for the licensing industry held its very first networking event in Mumbai
The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA), the global trade association for the licensing industry, held its first networking event in India on Saturday, August 06th at Renaissance, Mumbai. Over 20 delegates comprised of both LIMA members and non-members were in attendance.
The high tea event began with a short welcome by Rutika Malaviya who is the official LIMA representative for India, followed by key guest speaker Kelvyn Gardner, Managing Director of LIMA UK. Gardner discussed licensing as “The Business of the 21st Century,” the state of the global industry, and the specific growth rate in India. According to the 2016 LIMA Annual Global Licensing Industry Survey, India’s licensing turnover was $1263 million in 2016 as compared to $500 million in 2015, ranking them as the 20th largest global market for retail sales of licensed products.
“The evening was characterized by a good mood and overall atmosphere, making for successful networking and friendship building between attendees,” said Malaviya. “Feedback from the event was tremendous with the delegates connecting, commenting and inspiring each other. We were very pleased with our first event here in Mumbai, and are looking forward to additional educational and networking opportunities for the Indian licensing community.”
