Smiley teams up with Crocs to launch Jibbitz charms

This summer, Smiley has teamed up with footwear brand Crocs to launch a range of Jibbitz charms.

Following the partnership, Crocs and Smiley will release a line of Smiley icon charms so that fans can decorate their very own pair of slip-ons.

“Jibbitz are so fun. I really love them, Crocs is the only shoe brand that has developed such cool accessories for its products,” said Nicolas Loufrani, CEO of Smiley.

“We are really happy to work with them, and we are really happy that they have chosen to work with the original Smiley brand. The two sets of charms we have selected for them will with no doubt bring happiness to kids and adults alike,” he added.

Available in packs of three, the new Charms will be available across a range of High Street stores and online from April 2017.

 

WBCP to make its presence felt at Licensing Expo

Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP)  will be participating at the ensuing Licensing Expo 2017, it has announced.  With this, it has also highlighted its slate of products that will be showcased at the Expo.

WBCP’s offerings at the Expo include DC’s portfolio of film, television and animation, J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, and such animation favourites as Looney Tunes and the Hanna-Barbera franchises, bringing global licensing and merchandising opportunities, best-in-class products and innovative partnerships to licensees and retailers around the world.

From the DC Universe, WBCP will highlight the Wonder Woman film as well as Justice League that will release later this year.

Both the films would be backed by worldwide merchandising programmes. DC Superhero Girls will be another major focus and would span a wide range of products, including toys, costumes, apparel, accessories, publishing, digital games and more.

In other places, the company will showcase products from the upcoming Lego Ninjago Movie as well as an extensive Wizarding World portfolio, ahead of the Fantastic Beasts sequel, slated for release in Winter 2018.

 

Lawless Entertainment appointed worldwide rep for Periwinkle’s Journey

Lawless Entertainment has been appointed as worldwide representatives for licensing and merchandising for Periwinkle’s Journey.

The series is the story of a little blue penguin, a children’s property co-created by Judy Petersen-Fleming and Suzy Spafford of Suzy’s Zoo. Lawless will also seek co-production financing for the property.

Periwinkle’s Journey was written by Judy Petersen-Fleming, Suzy Spafford and published by Blue Sneaker Press.

It’s spring in Australia when Periwinkle, a little blue penguin begins her journey to Antarctica where she’ll meet all of her penguin cousins. Along the way she learns a lot about her world and herself.

The smallest penguin of all, Periwinkle is not only shorter than her cousins; she is also blue and most importantly, different from the rest.

Hesitant at first, Periwinkle learns during her journey to be brave, and realizes that it’s not how you look on the outside, but it’s what’s inside that matters.

Periwinkle’s Journey is the first book in an entirely new series of endearing characters from Suzy’s World.

Lawless Entertainment represents Periwinkle’s Journey worldwide and is seeking licensing deals as well as direct-to-retail opportunities with retailers worldwide. Lawless will also seek co-production financing for the property.

The entertainment company will feature Periwinkle at the Licensing International Expo in Las Vegas May 23–25, 2017 and would seek licensees in all categories.

 

Vera Bradley moves into creating apparels

Veering into a new line, Vera Bradley, the American luggage and handbag design company has partnered with CID Resources to create a line of apparel and coordinating accessories for female health care professionals.

The new collection will feature a variety of Vera Bradley designs and will comprise of products ranging from uniforms to matching totes and bags to ID badge holders.

“Vera Bradley enters new product categories when it can deliver its signature style paired with new functionality missing from existing products in the market. The medical uniforms market alone is estimated at $1.8 billion in the U.S., and our research indicates that nearly 20 percent of our customers identify themselves as working in the health care industry,” commented Rob Wallstrom, chief executive officer, Vera Bradley.

“We are delighted that we will be able to offer beautiful apparel and accessories solutions not only to these existing customers but to introduce Vera Bradley to thousands of other medical professionals as well. We are thrilled to inject our version of functionality, color, and especially fun into this important product category,” he added.

The health care professionals range is slated to launch next spring.

 

Studio Btozzetto taps licensees to create range of Tip the Mouse branded products

Studio Btozzetto has tapped a number of new licensees to create a range of Tip the Mouse-branded products for the Italian market.

Off these, Simba has been appointed as the brand’s master toy partner that will craft a line of 3D characters, toys and play sets inspired by the series’ characters.

On the other hand, Balocco will launch a chocolate Easter egg pudding which will feature Tip the Mouse and his friends while Grabo will launch a range of branded balloons.

Maurizio Distefano Licensing, the brand’s Italian licensing agent, brokered the deals.

PVH Corp. in a five-year agreement with Delta Galil Inds.

Philips Van Heusen Corp. has tied up a five-year agreement with Delta Galil Industries to develop children’s apparel for the Calvin Klein brand.

The agreement will see the licensee develop, produce and distribute sleepwear, underwear and socks for the global lifestyle brand for boys and girls.

Kicking off in January next year, the new Calvin Klein products will be available through a variety of department and specialty stores in the U.S. and Canada.

“Calvin Klein has represented one of the most iconic brands for nearly 50 years, and it is a true honor to partner with them particularly in their renowned underwear and intimate apparel categories,” says Isaac Dabah, chief executive officer, Delta Galil.

“This represents an important step for Delta Galil in our ongoing strategy of enhancing our branded portfolio and broadening our presence in the premium sector,” Issac added.

 

Times Group serves legal notice to Arnab Goswami

The Times Group has served a legal notice on Arnab Goswami’s soon-to-be launched news channel Republic TV over the use of the phrase ‘nation wants to know’.

In a three-minute audio clip posted on YouTube, Goswami claimed that he has been served with yet another legal threat and this time for using the aforementioned phrase.

“A media group has sent me a six-page letter threatening me with imprisonment if I ever use the phrase ‘Nation wants to know’. They say that they own the phrase,” he said in the clip.

In the YouTube clip, the named TV journalist further said that the threat of imprisonment will not deter him as he has been using the phrase for the last 20 years throughout his reporting career.

Followers of Times Now are familiar with Goswami’s famous catch phrase ‘Nation wants to know’ on his popular prime time show Newshour till he quit the company on 7 November 2016. He was the president and editor-in-chief of news channels Times Now and ET Now.

“ARG Outliers had filed for trademark for these and similar phrases which were already filed for and extensively used for years by Times Now. We have responded with a standard caution notice. He (Arnab) is just trying to gain soundbytes from it,” said a spokesperson for the Times Network, when contacted for comments.

Republic is a part of a company called ARG Outlier Media Pvt. Ltd, of which Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar is the biggest investor.

Moose Toys ties up with Koba Entertainment for first live theatrical production

Australia’s Moose Toys has tied up with Koba Entertainment to show the first live theatrical production based on the collectible toy brand Shopkins.

The new show titled Shopkins Live will feature the Shoppies and Shopkins characters in an all-new storyline.

It will also include original pop music and video highlights as Jessicake, Bubbleisha, Peppa-Mint and their friends prepare for Shopville’s annual Funtastic Food and Fashion Fair.

“Shopkins is literally on every child’s wish list,” says Gilles Paquin, president and chief executive officer, Koba EEntertainment.

“Koba Entertainment’s partnership with an innovative and leading toy manufacturer like Moose Toys allows us to bring one of the most successful toy brands in history to life on stage,” he added.

The 90-minute show will premiere at Buffalo, N.Y. and will tour more than 75 U.S. cities, including Boston, Mass.; Pittsburgh, Penn.; Atlanta, Ga.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Los Angeles, Calif.; Chicago, Ill.; and Grand Rapids, Mich., among many others.

Shopkins Live will kick off on September 14.
