Snapchat is turning into a valuable and appealing platform to all brands and marketers. All businesses should know that be it any medium or platform, it is the way how you handle it and use it that leads you to success.

Snapchat has surprisingly evolved into a very interesting social network, both for the users, but also for the brands that start exploring its numerous opportunities for increased engagement, curated content and new creative directions.

Why Snapchat?

Media Conglomerates are tapping Social Media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, and Pinterest and even Snapchat. Now what makes Snapchat so different? It gives a personal touch and a different identity to your brand.

Another great aspect of using Snapchat for your brand is that it brings the brand directly to the users and helps them to see the workings of the company and make them love the brand even more.

Take Starbucks, for example. The beloved beverage brand launched a Snapchat chilled summer drinks campaign. Cashing in on the popularity of their scrumptious Frappuccinos, the promo gave Starbucks drinkers the opportunity to super-impose a festive lens over a picture of their icy beverage and send it to their friends.

Why Snapchat and Licensing?

Now, how could Snapchat and Licensing world mingle with each other? It is easy and it is effective. Snapchat offers several different paid marketing options to meet the specific goals of your business. You can create a clever Snap Ad, build a fun Sponsored Geofilter, or give your potential customers an opportunity to interact with a Sponsored Lens.

By simply creating appealing videos, or ads using Snapchat, you can truly give a clear understanding of what your product is, and what it stands by. And that will surely help you to connect with the audience as we are sure they would love to see how your brand works to reach unto them.

Latest Licensing and Snapchat Story

Turner Broadcasting System Inc is creating more video content for mobile app Snapchat and is collaborating with the social media company on advertising. Turner will lead sales efforts for Live Stories and shows, while Snapchat will take the lead for sponsorships on the Discover channels. This latest partnership is done to expand their reach in the market and is specifically targeting the millennials.

Snapchat is one of the ways to success. So why aren’t you snapchatting your business stories yet?

Under the agreement, FlyFrog will roll out Barbie- and Hot Wheels-branded furniture and room accessories in India. The co-founders refused to comment on investments, but said they will look to raise funds in the next 6-8 months.

FlyFrog already sells kids furniture and décor products through the online channel under its own brand.

It also offers customised design solutions across 13 cities for kids’ rooms. Kaul, co-founder, FlyFrog Kids, said “We are the first licensed partner in India for the furniture and room accessories category of Barbie and Hot Wheels.”

These products will be co-branded as FlyFrog and Mattel’s brands’ Barbie and Hot Wheels. The company has already started small pilots to gauge consumer response. It is working on designing and creating a host of products, such as beds, wall hooks, wall art, study tables and night stands, under the licensing agreement.

The company is looking to initially launch kids’ rooms accessories this month, which will be scaled up to other furniture category products by next year.

“We will be distributing them through our select partners with a strong focus on online, since a large majority of our consumers are young moms who are very active online. Our offline strategy is to retail these products through premium outlets, leveraging Mattel’s distribution network where ever possible in the top cities,” Kaul added.

FlyFrog will be using its manufacturing unit in Jaipur for these products. Mahajan, co-founder, FlyFrog Kids, added: “Kids décor is the fastest-growing market in the home décor segment, with a growth rate of 35 per cent, and offers a huge potential as parents are increasingly looking for quality décor and furniture for their kids’ rooms.”

“Barbie and Hot Wheels are iconic brands. This agreement not only strengthens our venture, but also ratifies our capabilities,” Kaul said.

The event was graced by Nita Ambani, the owner of Mumbai Indians, along with the team’s captain Rohit Sharma and Renzo Rosso, founder of Diesel, among others.

Inspired by the sport, the collection integrates the visual identities and characters of the two brands. The collection takes inspiration from the brand colours of indigo and gold as well as ‘adventure’ and ‘bravery’ which are the two brand ethos.

“We took inspiration from the classic aesthetics of cricket which is clean, masculine, preppy, formal, made of sophisticated and very recognisable details. The ‘V’ shapes that is inherent to the cricket uniform highlights the athlete’s silhouette and celebrates the elegance of this sport,” explained Andrea Rosso, Diesel’s Creative Director for Licenses.

The limited edition collection is launched exclusively for the Indian market and will be available from Thursday at Diesel stores in India and on its portal.

After cricket, football, Kabaddi and other sports, Indian viewers will very soon get to see a ‘Yoga League’. With the mix of Yoga and Bollywood entertainment, contestants will be performing ‘asanas’ (postures) to the tunes of songs.

The idea is a brainchild of executives of sports marketing firms Baseline Ventures and Republic of Sports, who have secured long term rights for the property from Yoga Federation of India and Asian Yoga Federation to launch Yoga League in India and Asia.

The companies are also looking at the property as a way to promote yoga across the globe as a fun entertaining concept, which might play a role in furthering Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission of promoting Yoga as a Way of Life.

Tuhin Mishra, managing director at Baseline Ventures, said, “This is one of the most exciting projects we will be part of. It gives us a chance to create a property which combines Yoga and entertainment.”

Mishra is confident of kickstarting the first edition of the league in the first quarter of 2017. “The way we have developed the format, we are not going to sell the team franchisees. The entertainment mix will allow us to pitch this property to a general entertainment channel, which will ensure more viewership.”

Most of us are not born networkers and that is totally fine but that does not mean you would not talk to anyone. It’s good to talk to strangers; they might potentially help you reach your next goal.

Before you attend the next networking party of LIMA India on this coming Thursday, 08th December 2016, you can have a have little prep done for it with the some tips from us. A preparation ahead of time is always good.

Here are 8 Tips which would help you to survive and be the best at networking events:

#1 Be Yourself

You may be alone and nervous but do not change yourself because of it. Being genuine is what matters when you go for networking events. If not, then you are trapping yourself into cobwebs of lies. Certainly, you do not wish for that!

#2 Research Attendees

It’s good to be little like Sherlock Holmes before the event. You should do a thorough research of the individuals you are hoping to meet. Scope out these individuals’ LinkedIn profiles to learn the basics about them and look for common connections as it will surely help you to connect and maybe impress them.

#3 Introduce Yourself.

Networking events can be awkward. Particularly if you’re an introvert, starting conversations may not come naturally. Vow to overcome your natural temptation to blend into the woodwork, and make a point of introducing yourself to at least five people.

#4 Be Ready with Interesting Stories

Uncomfortable silence is something everybody loathes when you are with someone new. Know what you are going to speak and when to speak as well. It’s good to be a conversation starter at such events. Your conversation can start with anything from the book you last read or the movie you watched and what interests you.

#5 Mind your ‘Body’ Language

Visual cues are one of the most important things.  You may not realize what your body conveys when you are speaking, but do not forget them. Your posture and gestures inform your opinions and how much you trust others. And one thing which is really valuable to note is avoid looking into your phone constantly as that shows your lack of interest in the event.

#6 Take Notes

It is always good to take notes. You are certainly not a computer to remember everything. So jot down information which will help you later while you follow-up. Make sure you do not jot it down during the conversation or the event is on.

#7 All about them

Be a listener; make sure it is about them and not always about you. People do not like it when you talk about yourself. Keep eye contact with your conversation partner. Nod your head and tilt your body towards them when they’re speaking. These small cues go a long way towards making them feel like you care.

#8 End Conversations Gracefully

The last moments of conversation are the ones which people will remember you with, so make sure you give a good ending to it. Don’t be in a hurry to end the conversation, give them some extra beat and then you leave. It should not feel like you are running away from them. Remember – It should make them feel good.

Being the best networker is easy with these simple yet valuable tips. All you need to keep in mind is to be authentic with those around you. Make sure you attend networking events and make the most of it.

Freaky Friday – From Comic strips to the Licensed Publishing World

Comic Strips – Something which is equally loved by tiny tots to grown-ups. They are simple yet funny and can make you go through a laugh riot. The best thing about comic strips/ books is that they connect with each individual at different level. Comic books provide you much diverse range of  stories, characters and art than ever before.

The connection between the character in the comic book and the individual creates a symbiotic relationship wherein the person starts liking the character no matter where it goes. Character Merchandising and Publication Licensing go hand-in-hand. In the west, with the help of character licensing the publishing properties go hit in the market. The Characters and Franchises when are spread via books then they become a popular category of publication licensing.

If we take a dip into the history of character licensing, we find that most of them are born out of comic strips and their most loved character.

This week we tell you about 5 comic strips which made it big to the licensed publishing world-

  1. Peter Rabbit

Peter Rabbit first appeared in the book ‘The Tale of Peter Rabbit’ in 1902 by Beatrix Potter. Eventually she entered into a licensing agreement in 1902 with the British publisher, Frederick Warne & Co. who published a color version of the work that same year. And thus began the story of the oldest licensing character – Peter Rabbit.

The Indian superman Shaktimaan although began as a television series, the comic book and publications were not far behind. In India, this category is still not been discovered by many and is at its nascent stage. When it comes to licensed publication work, being innovative with the product and the character is the key to success, although some formats might do well.
